Endless bithday wishes Star shaped gift bag

Hello and welcome to the Jem's August blog hop!

This month’s theme is bags/boxes/3d projects; please take the time to hop through everyone’s creations! You’ll find the previous and next buttons at the bottom of my post!

As soon as I found out this month’s theme I knew I wanted to use one of my punch boards, they are so useful and make many projects above what they are intended for! I own the gift bag and envelope punch boards and use both of them often. There are such inspiring makes with them if you have a little search around on pinterest or YouTube! This is exactly where I found the inspiration for this make. You can view Amanda’s video here which gives you the full instructions on how to make the star shaped bag.

I also knew I wanted to create my own DSP for this project and so I reached for the endless birthday wishes stamp set – a very useful set to have! I love the little cake image! I also went for a colour combo I’ve used a few times recently of Rose red, Blushing bride and Smoky slate.

I started by randomly stamping the cake image in rose red ink onto rose red cardstock. The cardstock is 8”x11” so can be made from a sheet of A4 – bonus!!

Next I grabbed my gift bag punch board and did all my punching and scoring – this bag is scored differently to a normal gift bag using only the “side” score lines – I recommend viewing Amanda’s video as it’s easier to see than me trying to explain here!

Once all the punching and scoring was done I burnished all my score lines and prepared to start sticking the bag together! I used tear & tape to stick the side flap and liquid glue for the bottom as it needs room for adjustment before setting – to be honest the bottom of the bag was the hardest part!! Being a pentagon it was harder to get all the angles right but I’m sure after making one or two more it would become a lot easier! Then I die cut 2 circles for the bottom of the bag – one outside and one inside, meaning it’s quite a sturdy bag and could hold something with a little weight to it.

I threaded Smoky slate ribbon through the top and it easily formed the star shape opening.

I next decided to make a matching tag using the scallop tag topper and corner rounder punches – these two punches get a lot of use - they make beautiful tags in seconds! I layered up a Smoky slate and Blushing bride tag and stamped the cake, polkadots and greeting from the endless birthday wishes set

I hope you’ll agree it’s a lovely unusual shaped bag, it’s really quite roomy too, I managed to fit 3 of my favourite hand creams in it! It was a fairly quick make too using only a few products; I shall list them all below!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I tried to make this one a little more informative on how it was made rather than just showcasing the end result!

Thanks for reading!
