Christmas is coming!!
Welcome to our September Jem’s blog hop, the theme for this month’s
hop is the Autumn/winter catalogue which has just gone live for customers!
Exciting!!
Anyone that knows me knows me knows I love Christmas and so I was super excited when I got to see the new catalogue, it’s full of such beautiful designs. Everyone will have a huge wish list (including me!!) when they see the beautiful products. I was lucky that I had my birthday right around the time preorders opened and so I spent my birthday money on all the tools for heat embossing and a few must have items from the new catalogue. These included the cookie cutter Christmas bundle which I think EVERYONE will want! As well as the items featured on my following make...
So here it is, it was a lot of firsts for me – my first ever shaker card, my first heat embossed card (with the exception of a few makes at team training – certainly the first with my own kit!!) and my first Christmas make of the year!
I have been wanting to try a
shaker card for a while and I totally fell in love with the gorgeous colour
combinations in the fancy frost sequins – sweet sugarplum, pool party and rose
gold. I also picked up the coordinating ribbon pack which is gorgeous and
glittery in sweet sugarplum and silver. Whilst searching for how to put
together a shaker card (I had a good idea but wanted a little reassurance!) I
came across this video which just so happened to feature the colours I was
wanting to use - and so my card is CASE-ed from here - although the video uses
retired products from a few years ago.
I used a greeting from the tin of tags stamp set – I just love the sentiments and fonts used in this set. I heat
embossed it in silver to compliment the ribbon used along the bottom of my
card. I felt the card was a little too simple so after putting it all together I
added a few extra heat embossed stars diagonally across the card – these are
from the same stamp I used for the sentiment – I just masked off the majority
of the stamp so I only inked up the few sparkles I wanted.
I’m really happy at how my card
turned out and I can see me making many more shaker cards over the coming
months! They are a little time consuming at first but as with most things I
think once you’ve made a couple you’ll be knocking them out much quicker!
